As the title says I am a 0L hopeful applying this upcoming fall for matriculation beginning Fall 2022. I come from a background of poverty so the resources I have access to are limited and no one in my family has yet to go beyond undergrad. I am desperate for information, opinions, or general advice on choosing a school. I have done as much research on my own as possible but I've reached a point where I need human input. From what I can tell the quality of pre-law advisors, or lack thereof, is similar across the board by which I mean I've spoken to mine and they helpful. I realize I wrote a small novella so - TLDR; I need to know how to pick a school balancing location, prestige or ranking, money, and my own goals. I'm a 'non-traditional' student in that I'm almost 30, come from poverty, and do not a 'pre-law' degree. I will also be the first in my family to go to law school. GPA is between 3. 5 to 3. 8 depending on how it gets translated (explained below) LSAT Flex currently at 165, likely won't apply without at least a 170 (totally doable by fall) DUAL degree BA&S (5 year degree, not a double major) in Biochemistry and Philosophy of Ethics Currently between HSK1 and HSK2 levels of Mandarin Fluency, should be to HSK4 by law school if not further.
The average tuition fee per semester is 500 euro. The Singapore University has a student-friendly online application procedure. Beware of the date of application submissions as the GATE results may cause dismay. The university charges a fee ranging from 3 lakh to 5 lakh per semester.
2 Joined the Navy at 26 after doing hard manual labor in my adult life beforehand and having an overall difficult time in life but I had turned it around. I'm married with a kid. Several setbacks delayed my enlistment but eventually I was able to take the plunge. Originally wanted to be a combat medic in the Army. They told me slots are never available. Went to the Navy wanting to become a greenside corpsman. With my asvab score I could do whatever, but I just wanted to learn how to save lives on the battlefield if it were to become necessary and to enter the medical field so I could travel giving aid to those in countries that don't have adequate medical care. They had no spots for corpsman when I went to meps so I signed for an aviation job as a placeholder so they could try to switch it. My forestry job slowed down tremendously when covid hit and my shipdate came close for the aviation rate. I decided to go and try to change at a later opportunity. Bootcamp was a breeze, I was very fortunate not to get covid because the people who did went through hell.

I have a phone conference scheduled next week with an alumni and this is at the top of my list of questions. Even though we use a narrative I have noticed (can't confirm) that every evaluation I have received uses certain key terms that I believe are used to indicate or infer where my 'grade' would have otherwise landed - perhaps for these exact situations. Ideally I would like to go into corporate law and end up as general counsel, I am not currently interested in litigation or becoming a trial attorney. My home base is on the west coast and I have absolutely 100% no desire to go to school, live, or work further east of the Rocky mountains than Colorado. That being said my goals come first and barring a couple of locations I am open to compromise. I do think a clerkship and a 1st job in BigLaw is the way to go, first to clear my debt and second because I am cynical and other options seem heavily gate-kept by who you know or who your parents are. My initial diagnostic test put me at a 161 on the standard LSAT.
