The public health disaster has become a financial catastrophe, halting the 11-year bull run in the stock market and sending weekly jobless claims to a record nearly five times higher than the worst of the 2008 recession this week. President Donald Trump and members of his administration have predicted that the economic recovery will be swift once the outbreak is contained. On Tuesday, Trump said on Fox News that he "would love to have the country opened up, and rarin' to go by Easter. " Vice President Mike Pence said on Friday that the economy would "come roaring back once we see our nation through this. " On Friday, the president signed a stimulus package, worth more than $2 trillion, intended to blunt the economic damage from the pandemic. But estimates of a v-shaped recovery aren't factoring in psychology, according to Peter Atwater, a behavioral economist at William & Mary who studies consumer decision-making. "You can open it up. But this is not a field of dreams. You can build it, but they might not come, " Atwater said.

Post offices are open for a half day on Saturday, though, so some weekend work is required. During the holiday season or other periods when post offices are especially busy, postal service clerks may need to work overtime. One of the perks of working as a postal service clerk is that post offices observe many federal holidays throughout the year, so they get more time off than people in most other occupations. How to Become a Postal Service Worker Postal service clerks need to be at least 18 years old and pass a written exam. The written exam tests candidates on their ability to quickly check names and numbers, and memorize basic mail handling procedures. All candidates must also pass a criminal background check, drug test, and physical exam. As part of the physical exam, postal service clerks must prove that they can lift at least 50 pounds. There are no formal education requirements for working as a postal service clerk, but most clerks have at least a high school education. Training is provided on the job.

Founded in 1845 on 10 acres of the former Fort Severn in Annapolis, MD, the U. S. Naval Academy is a highly selective service school. All candidates must receive congressional or presidential nominations to apply for admission. The curriculum is focused around STEM subjects, though students, known as midshipmen, can choose to major in liberal arts subjects like history or Arabic. In addition to academic semesters, midshipmen spend eight weeks each summer undergoing rigorous military training. Upon graduation, alumni receive a bachelor's of science degree and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Marine Corps or as ensigns in the Navy. Attendance is free of charge, though graduates must serve five years of active duty. The academy's 338-acre campus, known as "the Yard, " is a National Historic Landmark. Midshipmen are required to participate in sports programs on the varsity, club or intramural level. USNA's 30 varsity teams compete in the NCAA's Division I, and its football team has a famous rivalry with that of the army.
