When 22-year-old graduate Olivia Bland applied for a job at the Oldham-based company Web Applications UK she was so horrified by the line of questioning and the "brutal" tone of her second interview that, after being offered the role, she turned it down. Bland's eloquent email response to the job offer, which she shared on Twitter, has gone viral, attracting worldwide attention, hordes of empathetic comments and, luckily, new job offers. I'm yet to receive any kind of response from the company. @WebAppUK you may have free juice and yoga on Mondays but you certainly don't have respect for your potential employees. Your CEO should be ashamed of himself. — olivia (@oliviaabland) January 29, 2019 In her letter, Bland said she was left "feeling so upset that [she cried] at the bus stop" and described her interviewer, the company's CEO Craig Dean, as "a man who tries his best to intimidate and assert power over a young woman". Her response has received over 93k likes and 28k retweets at the time of writing, suggesting it's an experience many can relate to.

The short and boring answer to this otherwise very important question is – "It depends". We know that's a rather unsatisfying answer, but it's pretty accurate – it depends on the niche the job interview is for, it depends on the guidelines the specific firm does or doesn't have, and it even depends on the personal preferences of the interviewer which can sway either way. In other words, to find the answer to the "Should I shave my beard for an interview? " question, you might need to do quite a bit of research. Gone are the simple old days where the best answer for most situations was "Yes, you should shave. " Nowadays, it's often better not to shave. In fact, sometimes it can even be smart not to trim your beard before certain interviews, although that's too much of a gamble usually. Still, what are some of the main considerations regarding beard etiquette you might want to keep in mind? Is shaving a beard really that important for an interview? Let's take a look: In which cases should you shave your facial hair for interviews and in which – not?

The British government and intelligence agencies failed to conduct any proper assessment of Kremlin attempts to interfere with the 2016 Brexit referendum, according to the long-delayed Russia report. The damning conclusion is contained within the 50-page document from parliament's intelligence and security committee, which said ministers in effect turned a blind eye to allegations of Russian disruption. It said the government "had not seen or sought evidence of successful interference in UK democratic processes" at the time, and it made clear that no serious effort was made to do so. "The report reveals that no one in government knew if Russia interfered in or sought to influence the referendum because they did not want to know, " said Stewart Hosie, a Scottish National party MP who sits on the cross-party committee. "The UK Government have actively avoided looking for evidence that Russia interfered. We were told that they hadn't seen any evidence, but that is meaningless if they hadn't looked for it. "
